Caritas Romania Confederation
The Caritas Romania Confederation was founded in 1994 to promote its members’ (10 Romanian Caritas organizations) social projects and contribute to lobby actions that could influence social policies both on national and international level. Humanitarian aid and disaster risk reduction programs are primary activities of the organization. Caritas Romania implemented humanitarian aid and rehabilitation programs in Romania after frequent floods. Since 2010 Caritas Romania is implementing capacity building programs in the area of humanitarian aid and disaster risk reduction in SEEurope,
Georgia and Armenia. Caritas Romania also participated in the EUAV funded PEACH project. Caritas Romania is one of the first Romanian NGOs collecting funds and providing funding for humanitarian aid after major disasters worldwide (Tsunami Indian Ocean, Haiti, Philippines, Balkan Floods, Nepal, Syria). Caritas Romania is member of Caritas Internationalis, Caritas Europa and FOND (Romanian NGDO platform).
Role in the TEACH project:
Caritas Romania is a member of the consortium and is taking a lead role in the implementation of Specific Objective 3, together with Caritas Czech Republic Caritas Romania is working closely with the other consortium partners in the design, monitoring, implementation and management of the project. Caritas Romania will actively contribute to reporting and promote sharing of experiences and learning within the consortium.
